Think MTV!
MTV has a campaign called Think MTV, which is a sexual health campaign. The network has recently lunched two new shows that center around this campaign. In Sex…With Mom and Dad, relationship expert Dr. Drew will help parents and children work through their issues discussing sex, dating, and relationships. In each episode Dr. Drew will help a new family come to terms with discussing what can be a taboo topic in households. Sex…With Mom and Dad airs weeknights at 7PM EST. Along with the Dr. Drew show there is Man and Wife, which features Hip Hop’s Fatman Scoop and his wife HIV/Aids counselor Shanda. The husband and wife team provide information and resources on sexual health topics. In what is a new twist to late night talk shows Fatman Scoop and Shanda take questions from a live audience, as well as emails, voicemails, videos and message boards. The series allows for open and candid conversation in a setting that makes people comfortable to ask the question they always wanted to ask but were afraid to. The show airs weeknights at 11PM EST. To be quite honest I don’t know anything about Fatman Scoop but I applaud him and his wife for doing a series that helps educate our youth. I also give credit to MTV for putting on such educational shows as Sex…With Mom and Dad and Man and Wife. In a world where our youth is getting educated on sex via the internet and television it is great that MTV is taking the time to produce honest to goodness true sex education shows. I think all parents should watch these shows at least once with their kids. If I had kids I would watch these shows with them. Below you will find clips from both shows.
