“American Idol” fakes me out
I’ll admit, I didn’t watch all of “American Idol” last night. For pity’s sake, it was two hours long! Yes, it was for charity though and a very, very worthy charity. But I have a husband who is charmed by improv comedy and he wanted to watch “Thank God You’re Here” over on NBC. Good enough. I did tune into the last hour though. And it was good. There were some great performances though I will admit that I rolled my eyes at the whole Celine Dion/Elvis thing. Puhlease. Been there, done that.
No, I was primarily interested in who was going home. All night long we were teased by who was on the hot seat. Improbably, the final two were Chris Richardson and Jordin Sparks. I said to my husband, “Ah, Chris. Oh well, I can understand it.” Then Ryan announced that Chris was safe and my jaw fell off. WHAT?? How could Jordin, the obvious frontrunner, be going home?? Ryan then revealed that Jordin was safe too. No one goes home on charity night, after all.
ARGH!!
You know, I kinda had a feeling something like that would happen. Because Ryan said Tuesday, before any votes were tabulated, that last night’s vote would be “shocking.” I wondered how he knew that. Did he have a crystal ball that I don’t know about? Then again tonight, as the show opened, he mentioned this “shocking” result. The heck?? So I was a little suspicious going in. Still, I don’t appreciate being led along and it didn’t look like Jordin appreciated the shock either. Poor thing was crying.
So next week? We get two that are eliminated. Sweet.
