More Trista and Ryan Really?

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

There are a few reports out there that former Bachelorette Trista and her hubby Ryan are headed back to reality TV. You know what I have to say to this, Really? I mean wasn’t the wedding enough, seriously? Why, Why, Why I ask you? Not only why would a network torture us with a new Trista and Ryan show, but why would the couple want to subject their new family to be on TV. I am sure it has something to do with the cash, that is what motivates most people. Don’t get me wrong I liked Trista when she was the Bachelorette and Ryan appears to be a great guy and yes they are a cute couple. I had such compassion for her when I read about her ordeal during the birth of her son. And I am very happy that the couple is going to have another addition to their family. I just want to make it clear that I am by no means a Trista/Ryan hater. I just don’t really care enough about them to watch a show with them in it. I don’t really need to see their lives on camera. Let’s face it I had enough of their lives watching the debacle of a wedding they had. However, I am sure there are many people out there who disagree with me, and I am sure ABC will jump at the chance to milk more money out of this couples success. Even though I am anti another Trista and Ryan show, you all know that I will so watch it when and if it comes out. Ok you have my opinion now tell me yours, what do you think of Trista and Ryan coming back to reality TV?

The Island Finale Tonight!

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

The exciting conclusion of the Real World/Road Rules Challenge: The Island is happening tonight at 10PM EST on MTV. When this show first debuted I wrote a blog about The Island and I was not too fond of it. I admit I might have misjudged the show because it actually got pretty decent. There was of course the awesome constant drama between Johnny and well pretty much everyone. Can someone tell me when it was that Johnny Bananas became such a jerk? I loved him on Key West but now I think he needs to be taken down a few notches, just my opinion. The whole Island concept was a little bit hard for me to grasp at first because it was so different from the other challenges plus it was kind of hard to follow at first. But again it grew on me and I ended up kind of liking it. I am definitely excited to see how tonight’s finale turns out. I am actually an episode behind so I have to watch that before the finale, lots of The Island for me tonight. Now if the finale tonight isn’t enough then tune in next Wednesday November 5th at 10PM EST for The Island Reunion show. Host Carlos Sanots will get all the dirt on the season. I love those reunion shows because all sorts of emotions and fights break out. Plus I so want to know if Kenny and Johanna are still together. In order to get you prepared for tonight’s episode below is a preview clip. Enjoy!

Jennifer Hudson’s Tragedy

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

I am sure you are all now aware of what horrible tragedy has happened to American Idol alum, Jennifer Hudson. Over the weekend her brother, mother and 7-year old nephew were fatally shot to death. Ever since I read about these unbelievable events I have been consumed with such deep sorrow for Jennifer and her family. I have followed Jennifer’s career since she was on American Idol, I rooted for her to win just like I rooted for her to win the Oscar. I cannot imagine what her family is going through now. I felt the need to write about this because it honestly just touched me. Not that I know Jennifer or anything but you know when you read about celebs and watch their ups and downs you sometimes feel like you know them, even though you don’t. I think for me, as I am sure with many of you, I can’t imagine having such a tragedy happen in my life. The thought of losing my brother, mother and nephew is unbearable. So even though I don’t know Jennifer or her family because she is a celebrity I kind of feel like this happened to a friend. Yes I know she is not my friend but I still feel for her. I really just wanted to say that my prayers go out to Jennifer Hudson and her family as they try to cope with this unthinkable act. I know this is not my normal blog and I promise there won’t be many like this. I just thought I needed in a way to pay respect and I thought if I wrote about what an amazing person Jennifer is and how sorry I am for her family, then it would be like I was paying my respect to her. Silly maybe but I felt it was necessary.

Dancing With The Stars

Monday, October 27th, 2008

I spent some time with my family over the weekend and we watched quite a few episodes of Dancing With The Stars and let me tell you, this season is pretty freaking good. I am so impressed with most of the dancers that are still left. Toni and Maurice I feel have the least amount of potential, and Toni got the boot last week so now it is just Maurice. I admit last summer when the cast was announced, I was so not impressed, but I will gladly say I was way too judgmental. The cast rocks, even Warren Saap who I thought would stink, he has got some moves. DWTS is just a highly entertaining show right now. Personally I am rooting for either Lance or Julianne to win, but I am thinking that Brooke and Derek will be taking home that disco ball. They completely rocked it in all the episodes I saw. I don’t have anything against them; I just really like Julianne and Lance. I really am quite surprised at how much I really like this season. I actually think it is that I do really enjoy Dancing With The Stars, I just don’t have the time to watch it. I always mean to watch some episodes on ABC.com, but time gets away from me. It sure is a good thing I had to spend the weekend with the family or I would not know how great of a season this is.
Now the only thing that kind of annoyed me about the show is this whole little kids dancing competition thing. Really, is that necessary? I get that it is good publicity and it is great for these kids but the show is called Dancing With The Stars, not Lets Watch Kids Dance, just my opinion. Alright you have my thoughts now let me know what you think of Dancing with the Stars?

Saturday Night Live Is Good Again

Saturday, October 25th, 2008

I know it isn’t exactly reality TV but it is done live and you can’t get more reality than live TV. Yes I am talking about Saturday Night Live. I used to be a huge fan of Saturday Night Live but in the past couple of years it has gone down hill. I think it has suffered since Tina Fey and Jimmy Fallon left the show. However, this year has been awesome. It is like the old Saturday Night Live is back. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler have been hysterical as Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton. Saturday Night Live kicked off the season with olympic super stud Michael Phelps hosting the show, which let me tell you was the best way to get things going. Ever since the first episode of the season the show has pulled out all the stops to keep us laughing. Teh only down side is that Tina Fey is only back on an as need basis and that Amy Poehler is leaving in November to have her first child, which could mean bad news for SNL. Honestly I hope the show can find a way to sustain the momentum it has built this fall. I know I keep talking about Amy and Tina but Saturday Night Live is full of talented people, for example I think Seth Meyers is fantastic and Jason Sudeikis makes me laugh out loud. That being said I believe Saturday Night Live has the talent to keep this fantastic season moving along after the exit of Amy. So tune in tonight at 11:30PM EST on NBC for an all new Saturday Night Live. Tonight’s host is Mad Men’s John Haam.

Reality TV Overload

Friday, October 24th, 2008

I am going to say quite a shocking thing here but I really feel it needs to be said. I am kind of getting bored with Reality TV. There I said it. I can’t explain why exactly other than I just don’t seem ro be as into it as I was a few weeks ago. Don’t get me wrong there are some great reality shows out there right now, so it is definatley not the shows it is me. The other day I did a blog “Where Are All The Reality Shows?”. Well I am beginning to think that the shows are out there, but it is just my I guess lack of interest in them now that has me thinking threr are not that many out there. Don’t get me wrong I am still a huge fan of Reality TV, and I proudly admit that. I feel like I might just be sort of burnt out on it since that was pretty much what I watched all summer. I think I am suffering from Reality TV overload and that is having some serious ramifications on my love for this genre. I know I am babbling but it is because I am really bothered by this fact. For example I love The Amazing Race, love it, but I am so not interested in it right now. It is good this season, so that is not it. I just don’t have that excitement that used to get where it was like I can’t wait to watch The Amazing Race and I feel like that about all my reality shows I am currently watching. Alright so now that I have rambled on let me know what you think. Is it really possible that I am suffereing from Reality TV Overload?

More Real Housewives

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

It looks like the Real Housewives are back in a new city, with new housewives and the same old drama. The Real Housewives of Atlanta is now airing on Bravo at 10PM EST every Tuesday. The cast includes Lisa, wife of NFL player Ed Hartwell who is a multi business owner. DeShawn, wife of Cleveland Cavaliers captain Eric Snow, runs a non-profit organization that focuses on improving the self-esteem of young girls. Kim a single mother of two is an aspiring country singer who hopes to remarry some day. NeNe is married to Gregg, a successful real estate investor, and she is founder of The Twisted Hearts Foundation, which brings awareness to domestic violence. And finally Sheree is a single mother of three who owns her own upscale boutique and clothing line.
So the franchise is headed down south, I gotta say that still doesn’t make me want to watch this show. I tired to watch both The Real Housewives of Orange County and The Real Housewives of New York City and I could not get into either one of them. To begin with if it is the Real Housewives why are their single people, I mean isn’t the whole point to show the glamorous lives of these women who are “Housewives”. Plus I just don’t find anything entertaining about these people. Other than that I don’t really have a reason why I don’t like this franchise, I just don’t. I have friends who completely disagree with me but hey we are all entitled to my opinion. Alright so I can’t stand this show, and I haven’t even watched the Atlanta version what about you?

Paris’s New BFF Undecided

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

I finally got a chance to watch Paris Hilton’s My New BFF, all episodes and I have to say I can’t decide what I think. During the first episodes I was like this show is stupid and it sucks etc etc. However as you all know sometimes my curiosity gets the best of me and I continue to watch a show. So I decided to watch all the episodes I had on my DVR before I made an official decision about the show. Well the problem is after watching them all I can’t decide what I think about this show. There is part of me that really doesn’t like it and there is part of me that is so intrigued by it. I really have no opinion about Paris Hilton either way. Sometimes I think she is ok and sometimes I think she is god-awful. The cool thing about the show is really getting to kind of see inside Paris’s life, who isn’t curious about what it is really like to be Paris. Another good thing are the Paris wannabe BFF’s. They are hysterical and dysfunctional. From the 80lb punk rocker, to the virgin, and let me not forget Onch. Now what bothers me about the show is Paris sitting on a chase lounge doing commentary and during eliminations Paris is sitting on her throne. I get she is Paris and thinks she is above them all but seriously we get it. Although I do admit Paris has had some moments where her compassionate side has come out. Ok so basically the jist of this blog is I can’t decide about this show, do I keep watching, do I drop it, I don’t know. Any suggestions?

Omarosa Is Looking For Love!

Monday, October 20th, 2008

Well my reality friends she’s back, the reality villain you love to hate, or in my case just hate Omarosa. Not only is she back but she is back in her own show looking for love and guess who is helping her? You got it her pal Donald Trump. Apparently Trump has decided to add love advice guru to his resume by helping the now divorced Omarosa in her quest for love. Trump will teach her how to take relationships as serious as business. Omarosa has been quoted as saying viewers will see a whole new side of Mr. Trump in her new show. Although it has not yet been confirmed what network is airing the show, rumor has it that VH1 has signed on. I personally cannot think of a better fit than Omarosa and VH1. There isn’t too many details out there about the show so I will let you know once I have more specifics.
Now for the reason you read my blog, well I am sure there are many reasons you read my blog but I like to think it is because you want to hear my opinion. Amway I think this whole idea and show is absurd and ridiculous. Omarosa is a complete jerk so I can’t imagine what kind of men will be lined up to date her. And really Donald Trump is going to be involved in this train wreck. I guess he really is just a money hungry idiot. All of that being said I will withhold my total judgment of this show until I actually see an episode but I can tell you right now I do not have high hopes for it. Stay tuned.

What Reality Show Would You Be On?

Sunday, October 19th, 2008

I was having a conversation with some friends the other day about what reality show would we be on, if we were going to try out for one. I find this an interesting topic of discussion because you get all sorts of answers. For example one my friend was like “I would be on So You Think You Can Dance”, but this friend can not dance at all so I found that interesting. None the less to each their own, I figure you can have a dream of being on any reality show you want and who the heck am I to say otherwise. The other interesting thing I found was people wanted to be on all types of reality shows, not just the ones that are competitions. The conversation initially started out as you know what reality competition show would you be on, but quickly people were throwing out stuff like “I want to be on The Hills so I can make out with Brody Jenner.” Which lets face it who doesn’t want to be on The Hills or make out with Brody. Ok so bad to my initial reason for the blog. If I ever decided to be on a reality show it would be The Hills, The Amazing Race or Big Brother. My reasons for these are very simple The Hills because I want to just see what really happens on that show. The Amazing Race because I love to travel and I feel like I would be forced to face so many of fears. Plus I know my friend Kari and I would totally kick ass at it. Finally Big Brother because I love that show, although I am pretty sure it would drive me crazy be locked in a house with 13 other people and no outside communication. Whateve I could deal, I think.
Ok so that is my three shows, now I want to know yours. If you could be on any reality show competition or otherwise what would it be? I love this game!

MTV Gives Hills Fans More Programming

Friday, October 17th, 2008

MTV sure is capitalizing on the success of its #1 show The Hills and if you are a die-hard fan then you will love what is coming up. Tomorrow The Hills: The Lost Scenes premieres at 1PM EST. The Lost Scenes will give fans a deeper look inside the romances, the roommates with never before scene footage from the last four seasons. The show begins with season one fans can get a more intimate look at the cast, including some very touching and funny moments. Basically it is like a bonus reel of excess footage for fans. Hey us fans will love it and it is super cheap for MTV to do since they already have everything needed for the show. Sounds like a win win situation to me.
Immediately following The Hills: The Lost Scenes, MTV will air The Hills According To Me, at 2PM EST, which is basically a parody of the show. It is almost like paying homage to the show with comically twisted takes on fans favorite cast members, drama and LA hotspots. You heard me right fans are going to relieve their favorite Hills moments in four back-to-back episodes. Below is a couple of clips from the show and it is hysterical, you have to watch.
And if that isn’t enough Whitney will be on The Hills Aftershwo Monday Oct 20th at 10PM EST to discuss her new show The City.
Wow that is a lot of stuff for Hills fans. Yes I am going to watch it all even though I am kind of annoyed with The Hills. What can I say I am still obsessed, disgusted but obsessed.

Survivor Not Bad!

Thursday, October 16th, 2008

I believe I may have underestimated the new season of Survivor. Before Survivor Gabon started I had already prejudged the show, I assumed it was not going to be any good since the last couple of season had sucked so bad. I proudly admit that I was wrong, this season is actually pretty good. The cast seems to be very different from the previous few seasons, almost back the original season. There was a time when the Survivor cast was almost becoming like a Real World cast with one or two older people thrown in. Not this time around, you have strong men, strong women, weak men, weak women, cute not cute etc. I love it. The challenges are back to being somewhat original as opposed to the recycled ones they were using. Jeff Probst even seems to be less annoying, I am pretty sure Jeff is getting a big head. Maybe someone put him in his place cause he seems a little different. The fact that the cast returned to Africa is great. They are literally in the middle of the wild. Now we all know that the show would never put the cast members in any danger, so the odds of someone getting hurt are slim to none, but after watching the preview clip for tonight’s episode it looks like the animals could get pretty close to the tribes. I can’t wait to see tonight’s episode. Beyond the animals there has been some good stuff happen already, new tribes only two weeks in is always a good thing. Sugar already found the hidden Idol again always good thing when the Idol is found right away. And of course the alliances are forming and due to that, some decisions might not have been the best for the tribe. Hello really you vote out Jackie over Kelly, that oughta help you win more challenges, just my opinion. Anyway if you haven’t been watching Survivor Gabon I highly recommend you do, it is still early enough in the season you can catch up quickly. It airs tonight at 8PM EST on CBS.

Where Are All The Reality Shows?

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

Is it me or does there seem to be less Reality TV shows on the major networks this fall. I was flipping through my DVR and I do not have that many reality shows on there. I have The Biggest Loser, Survivor, and The Amazing Race. Three shows, that is it and that is terrible. I realize that summer is definitely the prime season for reality shows but I feel like this fall season the major networks have gone back to comedies and dramas. Now I am not saying that is all that bad, I am a huge fan of all types of television. I just feel like I need some more reality shows. The question is, are they out there? I really think that in general the major networks produced less reality shows this fall than in the past. Does this mean that Reality TV has run its course? Or it is only good enough for the major networks to produce in the summer because they are cheap and easy to make? Yes there are still some reality shows on the cable networks such as VH1, MTV, or even Bravo but I feel like those networks are different. They have basically built themselves as networks for being known for having mostly reality shows. Now that is not a bad thing these networks are hugely successful. My main issue of this blog is that it seems the major networks have scaled back on their reality programming. Other than Stylista appearing on The CW next week, I can’t think of another new reality show on a major network. It seems that the reality shows this fall are returning shows. Interesting huh? Anyway that is my thought for today. Let me know what you think?

Audrina on Ellen

Monday, October 13th, 2008

I am sure you have heard by now that Audrina Patridge was on The Ellen DeGeneres show last week, I am not exactly sure why because I don’t think she was promoting anything. I am thinking she was on there just for some publicity. That is kind of beside the point, the whole interview was quite awkward. Mainly because Audrina was very awkward and kind of came off like an idiot, I am not saying she is, only that is the way she came across in the interview. Despite all the awkwardness the whole interview was pretty much centered on the new Audrina/Lauren feud. Which was interesting because based on that interview you can clearly see that the former BFF’s are no longer friends. However the show is still filming and will be filming until December so Audrina is stuck having to interact with Lauren. Now lets be honest who didn’t see this coming at the end of last season. Apparently LC has some difficulty keeping her best friends. Ok back to the interview. I have to say after watching it I am kind of on Team Audrina. I am beginning to see that Lauren may not be quite the wholesome good girl she wants to be portrayed as in the show, just my opinion. Personally I think the show needs to be over. No one likes each other, everything is staged, and the cast is always in the tabloids so viewers can find out what is happening so far in advance of the show. Audrina even insinuated that she would be ok if the show ended when filming stopped in December. Wondering why I still watch the show, well my curiosity gets the best of me so I watch. My point of the blog is Audrina was on Ellen, it was awkward, but I feel bad or Audrina. Yeah I am so over LC!
