I think I have made it pretty clear from my previous blogs that I do love Reality TV shows. Yes I favor some more than others, but in general it’s a great genre of television. That being said I have a really hard time committing myself to a Reality TV show that is on 2 nights a week, especially the ones that are for 2 hours, 2 nights a week. I know I have mentioned before how I really like Dancing With The Stars, but that I did not watch it regularly this past season. The reason is at the beginning of the season it’s on Monday and Tuesday night for 2 hours each night. That is 4 hours in 2 days of DWTS, which means I would basically have to watch only Dancing With The Stars for two nights. Now I like the show and all but I don’t want it to be the only thing I watch for 2 nights. Yes I can DVR it, which let’s face it I do with almost all of my TV shows, but once you get behind it is so hard to catch up. For example I am really excited about So You Think You Dance, however I was traveling last weekend and have not watched last Thursdays episode. Well before I knew it Wednesday was here, and guess what I didn’t get to watch it last night either. So as of right now I have 4 hours of So You Think You Can Dance to watch and the way my day is shaping up I am not going to be able to watch it tonight. Which means at some point this weekend I will be watching 6 hours of So You Think You Can Dance. Wow that is not only a lot, but slightly overwhelming. That is precisely why I do not usually commit myself to the 2 night reality shows, too much, too overwhelming. On the flipside though I am a Big Brother fanatic, there will be many blogs about BB once the new season begins, but I think I know why I can commit myself to Big Brother and not other shows. In all honesty it is because Big Brother is only 1 hour, yes it’s 3 times a week, but having to watch 1 hour verses 2 hours when you are behind seems less overwhelming. I know it may seem logical but it’s what I think. So what do you think, 2 hours, 2 nights, too much? Or just enough?
