The Reality of Beast Cancer

Friday, February 29th, 2008

breastcancer.jpgThe hard reality is that Breast Cancer has probably affected everyone in some form or fashion.

Our family has been affected by it and that’s why I’m training for the Breast Cancer 3 Day Walk in 2009. I then plan to walk each year after that and hopefully in different event locations.

There are other caring people out there doing all types of things to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness and the fight for creating a cure. Karen over at Discussing Breast Cancer reminded me what Project Runway and Hershey are currently doing.

Back in January the up and coming designers on Project Runway created designs to benefit the Young Survival Coalition. Young Survival Coalition is an organization of young women who are united against breast cancer through action, advocacy, and awareness. You can learn more about the organization here.

The designs are still up for grabs for a lovely donation. So far it looks like the bids will raise $1300 with Rami’s design going for $405 so far. If you would like to something great for charity and get a piece of Project Runway history you can bid here.

Don’t forget to visit Discussing Breast Cancer where Karen discusses the organizations, the news, the research, and more 365 days a week. Plus if you would like to keep track of my training and efforts to raise money for the cause check out Love Filled Shoes. It’s a blog where I keep track of my training miles, the amount of money raised, and photos for fun.

robandbig.jpgWhen I first signed up to write about reality television, I didn’t know that it was going to be this strange. A few hours of the stuff and a person really starts to notice the not so nice characteristics of musicians and television celebrities they grew up with.

Rock Of Love 2
Take in case Bret. After watching a couple of hours of Rock of Love 2, I’m beginning to wonder if Bret has always been a skirt chasing, sexual overdrive male? The two oldest women on Rock of Love 2 were voted off.

I can understand that even after Katherine made Bret breakfast in bed they still didn’t get to know each other but I really was rooting for Peyton. Sure she looked like a hard core Biker Mama but she just seemed down to earth.

I do have to give Kudos to Jessica for going up against Big John. The man looks really scary and then to find out that he was in the military. Jessica was the G.I. Mama for the day when she took out all four targets even when Bret was taken out on the paint ball field.

It looks like next week is going to be full of fights and drama. Is one of Bret’s girls pulling a Buddha? Are they on the show simply for their career? Now, I hate playing Devil’s Advocate but isn’t Bret on the show for his career?

My Fair Brady
First of all I have to say that the nVIDIA display of Adrianne was amazing. The graphic display looked like here and walked like her. Thankfully it doesn’t talk or burps like her.

Then Christopher goes and makes a statement that I’m sure caused a few people to flinch. On the My Fair Brady he says “He wants to have kids because he’s bored with himself.
That’s not why a person has kids. I can see the train wreck now.

Obviously Christopher really wants to have kids. Adrianne is sobbing on the floor. Chris is begging and pleading about children. It’s a really crazy and intense moment for Chris, Adrianne and viewers alike. It’s such a sad sight this week on My Fair Brady.

Sacred Geometry
It looks like Rob & Big have been going through some hard times in life. I tuned into MTV to find Rob being persuaded by Harry The Healer and his bag of Sacred Geometry.

What exactly is Sacred Geometry? From what I understand it’s Geometrical patterns that can be found in space, time, and form. Apparently Rob & Big really were reaching for something because Rob fell for the belief headfirst.

Come on Big be a friend and pull your buddy out of it.

Sobe Life Water
Last but not least I want to take a quick look at Sobe Life Water Superbowl commercial. Yes it’s the stuff being advertised to viewers watching reality television. I just have to wonder if the advertising guys and gals over at Sobe were actually thinking about their product.

Here’s the commercial:
A lizard rushes up to get a sip of the new Sobe Life Water. His eyes change into something evil and then several supposed zombified lizards and one grasshopper prance around doing thriller.

This is Sobe LIFE Water that we are talking about here right? Why would a company want to represent its product with an ideal of zombie lizards? Isn’t Sobe Life Water created to bring your body life needed vitamins and keep it alive? I think I made my point.

Sure the dancing lizards are cute and cool but the concept is definitely wrong.

That’s my rant for the day. I hope you’ll check back tomorrow for more reality television fun. There sure is a lot out there to watch so enjoy!

Cha cha with your mama!

dance.jpgLifetimes asks what happens when you pair up hard trained dancers trying to win $100,000 with their mothers?

Let’s not forget the fathers too! That’s right up and coming dance professionals and their parents are put to the test as they compete for the money and title.

Ian Ziering will host “Your Mama Don’t Dance on Lifetime on Fridays at 9 P.M. I have to say that it’s been a blast watching the auditions of the teams at the Lifetime website.

It’s really cool that friends and family members have visited the comments page to leave supportive and inspiring messages.

Of course there are going to be judges but the viewers make the final decision on who is in step towards $100,000. The judges are Chris Judd, Ben Vereen, and Vitamin C. The host and judges have a few notches under their belts when it comes to reality television.

Not only are they Award winning actors, dancers, and musicians but several have battled their own way to the top for price money and fame.

Cris Judd won $200,000 for Make A Wish Foundation and the title of “King of the Jungle on ABC’s show “I’m A Celebrity – Get Me Out Of Here. VITAMIN C put on her cami’s and played GI Jane with other celebrities on MTV’s Celebrity Bootcamp.

Have you looked through the clips on “Your Mama Don’t Dance? Who do have any favorites? Who do you think is going to be the favorite villain? Come on now every reality show has a villain. It just creates drama for the show?

At the moment I’m wishing them all the best of luck. Don’t forget to check in on Friday at 9 P.M ET/PT to see these pros and parents strut their stuff.

Rob and Big love….

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

robdyrdeck.jpgI hope they love me even after my goof up. Just when I came down with a nasty cronic cold Rob & Big announced it’s open call. It’s an open call for shirt design submission from the fans of MTV’s celebrated show.

The theme for design submissions was “Let Me Tell You About My Best Friend” Fans get to vote on the coolest designs and the winner gets armful of wicked stuff.

I checked back at Rob & Big’s site and it doesn’t look like a winner has been chosen yet. So you can definitely get your vote in for your favorite.

There are some funky and fresh designs at Threadless T-Shirts. When your there check out “To the rescue” featuring our favorite dog from the show, skateboard and all!

My overheating dvr

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

11256657.jpgMy dvr is overheating or is that just my brain. This past week I have been trying to catch up on all the juicy gossip and crazy drama on reality television. It hasn’t been easy but I promise that I will be back into the swing of things and hot to trot like the cast of Paradise Hotel 2. (Did I actually write that?)

Till tomorrow can you believe what Paula said? What’s the deal about decaping Archuleta? Is that really just soda pop in the bright red glasses? It’s going to be an interesting tonight when the girls hit the stage and stand in front of Paula and the other judges comments.

Seeing Hearts In Reality Television

Saturday, February 23rd, 2008

parishilton.jpgI wonder if everyone has been seeing cupid, love, and hearts on reality television? One thing is for sure February has been a strange month for television. So who has been showing love and who has been full of hate on our favorite shows?

Speaking of hearts, I found a couple of reality stars wearing the color of hearts and some nice heart designs around their neck. Paris Hilton looks like a cupid herself while wearing this lovely heart around her neck to The Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscar Party.

I’m sure we all can remember Paris Hilton and her ventures on The Simple Life, which ran till August 2007.

On the other hand, Cirie looks like she just has love for herself on Survivor Micronesia. People are split when it comes to the team. With the expressions on her face when Yau-man was snuffed out, Cirie wouldn’t have it any other way. Perhaps it’s a ploy to driver her adversary and team member crazy, we will just have to wait and watch.

Hopefully, the Micronesian gods of Survivor will show me some hearts and love. It’s sad to say that I’m in place #22 with the Survivor Pool Party. Congrats to Lessa for keeping tabs with Watching Survivor and being in first place.

So who do you think is going to be the next one sent to Exile Island? Will it be a Fan or a Favorite?

Personally my vote is on Parvati, if she doesn’t step up and step out during week 4 then I have a feeling that her torch will soon be put out on Survivor Island.

Now it’s time to talk about a completely different love. The love of one contestant for another is getting strange on reality television. Yes I’m talking about Rock of Love 2.
What was the deal with girls giving up their chance with Bret for another girl?

I nearly fell out of my chair when Bret turned that pass around and the girl that walked out was going to be asked to leave anyways.

Now it’s time for the girls to say “Cowgirl Up! It’s going to be interesting to see if the thing they’re going to ride is real or mechanical?
